Sewing ideas?

Postby GreenWing » Sun Oct 14, 2012 9:16 pm

So I've recently been putting my sewing machine to use, and I've been brainstorming stuff to make for my Tiki. Besides making tents, what are some other ideas to make with fabric for our birds?

Maybe something with very thin/short strips (so as not to get the bird tangled) that simulates preening? I know my cockatoo likes these types of toys. ;)

Does your :senegal: have a harness? You could sew his name into his harness if so, or maybe name adress phone # on his carrying bag if he has one of those. I guess you may not need fabric for that but you'd be able to use your sewing machine and it would be cute to be able to personalize his harness or what have you. :D

Hi,
I to am interested in this idea. What about making a cover or seed catcher for his cage? I was also thinking maybe a play mat for foot toys that are in the cage or on top of the perch where he might hang out?

That's a cool idea, Eileen! I really like this! I'm digging the use of a safe but loose fabric, stuffed with seed, or dried peas and carrots, with toys sewn on? Would this encourage foraging, and be safe? I'll find out and let everyone know.
