Too many toys: got closet ideas ?

Postby Pralina » Sun Dec 30, 2012 8:07 pm

Ok I have too many bird toys. I started off with one of those big rubbermaid plastic containers... it is now full. I got a second rubbermaid plastic container... it started filling up... Then I also have a crate of DIY toy-making supplies.....
Now my closet is a MESS!! I hate those containers, I have to pull them out, they're heavy, i have to dig into them looking for the 1 toy I am looking for the rotation.... What a mess, its driving me bananas!!!

I just wish I could set up my birdy closet some other way that makes things easy to reach. So I'm begging you, handy parrot people, give me some hints!!! :? How do you store your many many parrot toys?
Hooks? Shelves? Pegboard?
How do you manage????

Let the bigger birds finish them off and then throw them out.

I'm not sure how many toys you have, but I store mine in my dresser.

I also have a wire shelf that I hang toys on that I let my parrot play with. You could use those and a) hang a ton of toys on it to store and b) put shoe boxes/containers on top to store the DIY stuff.

I have a large set of those horrible looking plastic drawer things, I keep foraging toys in 1 drawer, wooden toys in another, toy parts in another, acrylic/plastic and bells in another and so on. It still means I have to search for specific toys but it makes it easier and the boxes dont get too heavy. Bear in mind I dont have large birds though, I shouldn't think it will work with lots of large toys.

Tackle boxes of various sizes work well, especially for parts. I prefer the clear ones.
I also use a variety of belt hangers.

belt hangers! that's an interesting idea too!!! I will try to see if they sell some at the nearby dollar store!

I think that could be a better option than the shelves, as my boyfriend might be happy to not have to make more holes in the walls! ;)

I was able to find some at a Big Lots. The ones I purchased at WalMart are round and rotate easily (using my hand); they also have 2 tiers of hooks to hang stuff ie I hang smaller toys on the smaller hooks on the top tier and hang larger toys on the lower tier.

I regret I'm unable to provide you with photos as I've no idea how to attach pics! Doh! lol
