I forgot to mention the over the door and under the bed shoe storage units. The ones I use have 20 clear "compartments".

for all my toy parts, I found and got those wonderful plastic wheel drawers from walmart. Then also the little 5-drawer table top one I got one of them too, to store the hardware in (chains, O-Rings, Quick-links). I use two drawers of that one for the chains, because I separate "thinner chains" from "thicker chains.

In the multi-colored one, in one of the drawers I store other types of stringing materials (sisal, juste, cotton rope, leather laces, paulie rope). plastic beads top drawer, wooden beads next drawer, then stringing materials next drawer, then other bird toy parts like raw hide bone chews, loofah pieces, indian corn in next drawer, next drawer closed rings (plastic, and those cardboard type chew rings they call bagels), bottom drawer any type of plastic rings or links which are "open" (have an opening in them, where you can link them to eachother).

In the larger one, first drawer wooden pieces, next drawer shreddable parts, bottom drawer toy bases (like large pieces that support the toy that you can build toys onto), 2nd to last drawer from the bottom drawer all different types of plastic shaped pieces. That still leaves me with two empty drawers I can still use for stuff thus far.

They store all the parts organized (well if you're storing parts to make your own toys like I do).

Then I have one tool kit which is used only for making bird toys. two pairs of plyers, one sissors, one hand held hole puncher. these are just always on my kitchen ledge, handy. With masking tape, in case I need to tape a piece onto the end of a stringing material to make it feed easier through the toy parts. Then just cut that part with the tape off, when you're finished.

3 hole puncher, which I only sometimes use for different things, so it just stays in my dining room SLASH office (where these wheel drawers are). This is because I live in an apartment and this is the only place for these drawers at this time until I buy my house. But they fit nice and neat there, and don't take up too much space. So when I'm making toys, I just bring the few tools from the kitchen ledge over to the dining room table, and everything is there for me to make toys. All organized, goes quick and easy.

I have, which I keep in another place with some other tools which are good to have around, another wrench/pliers type thing for drilling to hold the wood with one hand, while I'm drilling it with the drill in the other hand.

Walmart also sells a small 4 piece tool kit also has everything you need to make bird toys just about.

these others are your odds and ends tools around your house, stored and used for bird toys, but mainly I just use the two pairs of plyers, one sissors, one hand held hole puncher, it depends on what I'm making.

don't stock up too much, buy a little, and only buy as they're used up. You'll also be knowing which types of parts your bird does NOT go for, so you don't buy them again, and buy the ones they like. Sometimes they bore from certain parts, and don't go after them anymore, but go after new and interesting parts to them.

I have found this to work well.

Have drilling days, where all you do that day is drill parts, like a saturday aside set for that. This way, they're ready to string.

I'd thought about those big bins you are talking about. I'm glad I'd bought the wheel drawers instead. Even if I want to make toys in the bedroom, they're easy to wheel into the bedroom, they're light, and they have everything I need just about in them.

Keep in mind that Walmart also has these wheel drawers larger, (the drawers wider and longer), if you're needing more room. They're all in the same section there at Walmart. They will be much easier with the wheels etc. Also keep in mind that the larger you get, the more you might tend to stock up. Don't have "overstock".

forgot to mention I also have another drawer in that larger one I have which has more wood pieces. Without it in front of me, was typing from my best recallection lol.

Ok I have too many bird toys. I started off with one of those big rubbermaid plastic containers... it is now full. I got a second rubbermaid plastic container... it started filling up... Then I also have a crate of DIY toy-making supplies.....
Now my closet is a MESS!! I hate those containers, I have to pull them out, they're heavy, i have to dig into them looking for the 1 toy I am looking for the rotation.... What a mess, its driving me bananas!!!

I just wish I could set up my birdy closet some other way that makes things easy to reach. So I'm begging you, handy parrot people, give me some hints!!! How do you store your many many parrot toys?
Hooks? Shelves? Pegboard?
How do you manage????

Why not buy one of those kids' toy chests? That would not only hold the bird's toys, but other things as well. Hope I've been of some help here.

ok im back on this post! i completely forgot about it!
my toys' closet is set-up fiiiiinally! its a mess, I have wayyyy too many, but hey they are hanging off the wire shelf and theyre easily accessible!

however, i consolidated into 2 big rubbermaids all my construction materials. oh my god, i have wayyyyy toooo manyyyyy! ughhhh! from now on, no more buying toys! i gotta use up all that wood and rope i got

and like you say, no more stocking up! thats like wayyy too much.

(i like the idea of drilling days though. i should have those AND food-coloring days)
