This is pretty much the cutest thing I have ever heard! A GCC that sleeps with his ball in his hut and a GCC that brings a ball into his hut to talk to it! LOL

My GCC has a little whiffle ball filled with beads that rattle but he doesn't have a ball with a bell. After hearing these stories I'm definitely going to have to order that Nobbly Wobbly ball and see how he likes it. :D

It is so sweet when Doug does it! It's like his security blanket! Just be careful as to the type of ball you get, I used to buy the ones that were just really cheap plastic and had wider openings to the bells and Doug chewed right through it and his beak got stuck. Luckily I was in the room when it happened, but I actually got little balls with bells that were made for ferrets. They are a way sturdier and parrot proof!

Andromeda and Letta4 - I would REALLY like to get the whiffle ball, and the ferret ball for Ringo - what brands are these toys?

thanks for warning about this -

another safety thing with the all the lattice balls, plastic, wicker, rubber, etc: the bell AND the ball part should be removed if the ball gets broken in any way. The bird should not be allowed to play with the bare bell (the bells could be made of the wrong kind of metal and are generally too small for safe play on their own). Ringo only plays with the breakable balls under supervision and I remove all the parts once he's broken them. the sturdier plastic ones, the ones he CAN'T break open with his beak, are the only ones I let him take into his Happy Hut. I check the sturdier plastic ones, as well as the wicker ones, on a daily basis for any signs of damage, and replace them if I see them damaged in any way.

The Nobbly Wobbly looks like a winner because according to the comment made by the person on the amazon webpage (see my post above) it takes forever (or its impossible) for the GCCs to actually get to the bell inside the ball. Ringos been playing with his for about two weeks now and I dont even see beak marks on it.

I bought mine here: Foot Toys for pet birds. There's three listed there and the one I was talking about is the "Whiffle Rattle." I also bought the "UFO" but the "Whiffle Rattle" is by far my conure's favorite. I roll it across the floor at him and he rolls it back, it's really funny.

Aw I used to do this with Ollie but he gets over excited and forgets himself. Usually results in him charging across the floor to me in full on attack mode lol.

Thanks for these links, Letta and Andromeda, I'm gonna order some of each, they sound great.

Ringo luckily charges the toy, and not me, but I make sure to stay out of his way! :D
