I hear that, Liz, but in addition to that my birds all want to nibble and chew any piece of paper that I have. They don't care if it is a book or magazine or if it is a bill or a grocery list. To them it is just another nice shreddable piece of paper for them.

My biggest problem with her is when I am doing paper work. She hangs upside down on the front of me and wants to get involved in what I am doing. Of course I can't see around her to do my work.

Haha, yes this is so true, hence the reason my homework looks like my dog ate it

Another use for the percher. I stick the stem down into the garbage disposal to block the drain hole and make it safe for the bird to run around the sink. Sometimes the percher blocks the drain a bit better and more water accumulates. She will stay up on the perch for a while, and then run down and do this.

This product is a good design, and is pretty useful, but it's pretty cheaply made. It is, however, not a bad value at under $20.

I was in group that required homework. Myrtle chewed the edges off. The class roared laughing when I told them "my parrot ate my homework".

What a great use for it Navre, I usually make all my own, but this is so economical it sure worth a try. If I got a second one I would wrap it with vet wrap, the one you should have in your emergency kit in case your bird gets injured, to give it some color and to make it easier to grip. I used to use sisal and twine for everything to attach but these days I use vet wrap. Makes it easy when i clean my toys too, i just unwrap the vetrap, it only sitcks to itself, wash the whole toy and rewrap it with new vetrap when dry.

I love vet wrap. I have used it every since it first came on the market back when I was working with thoroughbred horses some 20 years ago. Wow, has it really been that long ago? Any way it is great stuff.

My Greencheek won't go near anything that has vet tape on it. I had covered the metal parts on top of her cage. She spends a lot of time perching up there. I figured the tape would be better than thr metal on her feet. she spent weeks avoiding the tape. I also taped up other plastic perches. She would never go on them. At least I know now.

I would wager that the only reason for her aversion to it is that it made her stuff look different and if left in place she will get over it and begin using those things again.

You can use the human wrap that sticks to itself and it often comes in a neutral beige color. It is the same stuff, just more expensive usually. I have the same worry about metal if it is not stainless steel or pure aluminum. You can also try handling the vet rap where your parrots can see you, It helps them see it is not dangerous. also some parrots do not like certain colors, so you can also try to buy vet rap in the color they seem to like the best. hope that helps Navre.
