Advanced Indoor Flight Training Parrots in Theater (Day 4)

While the second and third advanced flight training sessions were disappointing, the forth one proved to be a major breakthrough. I flew the parrots in a theater for the first time and had them fly recalls to me from the back of the seating to the stage in preparation for an upcoming performance. Read about how I desensitized the parrots to this unfamiliar room and had them flying to my hand when I called them. I included a 10 minute video that shows the best of the 2 hour training session. So much progress was made that such a long video is necessary to show all of it. Enjoy.

That's awesome! I wish my green cheeked conures were as talented as Kili and Truman! :gcc: :senegal:
I hope you performance go well! :D
How can I be in two places at once, unless I were a bird?

All birds are capable of learning Kili and Trumans tricks. I think it takes the talent of the owner to be able to condition them to do it

So far I have only gotten them to, fly to me, target (I still need a clicker!), and bat. They did the bat trick the second we got them. It happened when I tried to tame them and they flipped over and have been flipping on command now ever since! Still Glinda is REALLY going slow with the taming. I can only get a cm close to her face without her flying, flipping or biting. But progress is being made very slowly. Elphaba on the other hand is going very quickly with taming and will let me touch him anywhere. The only thing we struggle with is being grabbed. Elphaba's is flying now! :) He isn't very strong but he is trying! I think it is because I took the food out of the cage for a bit!
This forum is awesome! :D

In this session both Kili and Truman made big progress. I started to think that I have to put more time to train my little Monsters. By watching your movies Michael, I realized, that everything is possible if we want it to be- thanks

Btw: I can't stop laughing after I saw Truman in session (Day 2/3) and on the end of movie his expression was like: Are you talking to me?
