It's Bubba's "hatch day"

Postby Andromeda » Wed Mar 13, 2013 3:18 pm

Do you celebrate your bird's "hatch day," and if so, how?

Today is Bubba's "hatch day." He is 7. I adopted him from Craigslist when he was 2 1/2 and I can't believe he's already 7!

He doesn't understand he turned 7 today, of course, but he got three new toys, anyway, and later he will get some fruit for "free" (on other days he only gets fruit when training).

I tried to get some pictures of him with his new toys but he kept dropping them when he saw the camera so instead here are some pictures I took of him today while he was preening:

He is so cute! I wish that I had information like that for Nika. I think I'm going to celebrate the anniversary of her coming to live with me instead.

Happy hatch day little buddy! Sounds like you got some fun things today!

Thanks for all the "happy hatch day" wishes! Bubba and I both appreciate it! :gcc:

I think that's a great idea! I don't know how old Jimmy is or when he was hatched so I just celebrate the anniversary of when I adopted him from the rescue. :-)

I only know about Bubba because his first owners saved his "hatch certificate" from when they bought him at the pet store.

Ohhh In answer to your question, I don't bother with pets birthdays these days but I used to, we used to do christmas for them too, my reasons are.

1. the majority were rescues/rehomes so we didn't know for sure when they were
2. we ended up with so many pets at one stage it was impossible to keep up with.
3. it got too expensive

nowadays I order a batch of new toys each time I place a food order anyway and they just get them spread throughout the year which usually coincides with the january sales. I may get the odd bit at other times but they have a silly amount of toys anyway.

Happy Hatch Day, Bubba! He's a beautiful bird. Looks very healthy and happy.

I celebrated Weebo hatch day every year. He busted out of his egg on October 10th and I always made it a free-feeding day with lots of special treats. He was already pretty spoiled aside from food management so that was the best I could do to make the day stand out.
