If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

your little one is so cute and precious. congratulations :)

I hope he will have the chance to remain in his parents' nest during this critical stage of his life.

I love his little foot toooooo! but I think the one might be bigger than the other. Maybe it's just clenched, dunno..

Also, is that pewp on his bootie or is it the yolk vein or something?

About the parents, sadly he's going to be hand raised all the way. The parent's aren't very nice...

The breeder will be sending pics every week or so, so I'll try to keep the OP updated. She says 3 months is about what I should estimate for weaning (give or take of course, depending on the bird's readiness). So There should be a good amount of pics showing the early maturing of a Greater Jardine. =) As far as I know, that's something pretty new to the internet.. Even though in their youth, Greaters look like Lessers look like Black Wingeds.

yeah, that foot is cute! his whole little body is just too adorable for words. the foot size difference might just be the angle of the photo - you should ask for another photo to put your mind at ease if you are concerned about his foot.

oh well - sometimes thats the case and it cant be helped.... but you know what will help this little baby feel a little bit more like he's still in his parents nest? if the breeder places other chicks in the same container that he's kept so that he can huddle close to them. thats really important from what I've heard.

anyway, good luck and looking forward to seeing more pictures :)

Unfortunate events at the breeder caused the hatchling to receive insufficient heat. It got too cold and perished.

please delete thread..
