Have you had her all your life? Maybe she learned it from someone else and wants a treat. :] Nika waves at my boyfriend and roommate hoping they'll give her a treat.

Eddie has started waving recently too! He's not hurt or sick he does it to get attention or if he wants a scratch. He eats with his foot too like a too or a macaw! Bless my little tiel!

Wow I've never heard of a cockatiel eating with their feet! I always thought GCC were the smallest birds who did that. I can only dream that Daisy starts too! :swaying:

I have to agree it's certainly not a tiel thing. I think Edmund does it because we've had him since he was very very young and he was hand raised (which was a first for us having had wild cockatiels previously). I think he copies us from when we eat fruit and apples, he sees us using our hands and does the same.

He was never caged with any other bird or been around any other bird that does it so I guess it must be that. It'll be interesting to see if the new baby picks it up....

Sounds like good luck to me! You get a new trick without any training ;) Shoot, I have to work my tail off for a long time to get a new trick- I envy you!
