What makes your parrot(s) most comfortable/calm?

Postby hlasdf » Sun Apr 07, 2013 2:24 pm

For Daisy, it's usually being near my face. She loves faces and often tries to get as close to them as possible - especially when they're singing! Just a few minutes ago, Daisy was on my arm and trying to get off onto the table. I started humming and she immediately froze and watched me. She then waddled as close to my face as possible and started preening. Sometimes I wonder if she thinks hands and faces are completely different creatures, seeing as how she barely tolerates hands!

Wow, penny sounds so cute, well actually they both do.

Touch and snuggles calms Ollie right down, he seems most comfortable snuggled as fully as he can into a hand or into my neck under my hair.
Haven't really figured anything which makes Harlie settle down or remain calmer, just loads of time and patience.

Penny's little foot thing sounds so sweet. What a cutie pie!

Marvin likes being under a blanket. If he gets a little cranky it's because he's tired...if I sit down with a blanket he'll crawl underneath it and coo and gurgle and grate his beak. He sleeps lying down right now, legs sprawled in front and head down between them. It's so funny to see. He also likes being in a hoodie. If I put on a hoodie he immediately wants to hop in and take a nap.

Aaw, Penny sounds adorable! Ollie sounds snuggly as well. I always find it cute when a bird gets as close as possible into a hand!

Dear god that is the cutest picture ever! Marvin sure looks comfortable! :)

Thanks! Marvin is such a snugglebug. I hope it lasts into adulthood. I gave him his first full bath today and afterwards I held him to my chest in a hand towel for a nap. He just sat there under the towel while I stroked his back through it. We call him my little "parrotoma" because he's always glued to me. Ah, babyhood. Can't beat it!

You're killing me with these adorable descriptions  You're pretty lucky! I've heard Senegals don't tend to be cuddly - or is that just for adults? Either way, enjoy the cuddles!

Miley's most comfortable on my right shoulder. :D Never the left one, she's always on my right shoulder. She's quite like Daisy too, Miley LOVES faces but doesn't really like hands (she's fine with my hands, but pretty much nobody else's, and she's not a big fan of mine either), so when she's on my shoulder and wants scritches, I'll often cuddle her with my nose. <3
....Which... Isn't really the best thing to do, actually. Haha. I've got a pierced septum, and Miley thinks the ring's a toy. Ouch.

Alaska's comfortable pretty much anywhere and anyhow, really, as long as she's not alone in the room. :)

Haha! Sometimes I wonder if birds realize that hands and faces are part of the same body! Daisy definitely doesn't act like it.

And ouch, that sounds really painful. Did he happen to be in a bad mood? How'd you get him to let go?
