I took a couple of weeks' vacation to get my travel itch scratched before bringing home my new baby, and now it's mommy time 24/7. Marvin Beakman came home last week, at 9 weeks of age. I had some formula on hand in case he regressed, but he did fine. The breeder, Delorce Bennett of Charleston, SC, did a FABULOUS job with him. Marvin knew how to step up and is perfectly tame and unflappable. He can be touched anywhere, will lay on his back with no problem, and is willing to try any new food he is offered. Favorites so far are apples, walnuts, scrambled egg, Swiss chard, and cauliflower. I have never met a more easygoing bird. Marvin is quiet, and loud noises don't faze him. He will happily perch on anyone and anyone can pet him. I have felt a little bad about not getting an adult rescue, but now I'm glad I went with a chick...at least this time. He's a snugglebug and very balanced all around. Yay, Marvin Beakman! It's so cool having a new baby.
