Haha, does anyone else's bird do this?

Postby hlasdf » Tue Apr 16, 2013 11:09 pm

Usually when I'm hanging out with Daisy on the bed, I'll lie down on the opposite side of her, and she'll shoot off in my direction and tackle my face with her closed beak. It doesn't seem like it's in an aggressive or playful manner, but just for the heck of things. It's really cute - especially when she bends her body to get ready to shoot off. One time though, she gave me a scare when she aimed right for my eye. Luckily, she didn't try to bite and I closed it just as a part of her beak touched my eyeball
Anyone else have a bird who does this or know why?

Umm no but then I don't give them the chance, my eyes are too precious to me to risk taking chances with. Already had one bite about 2cm below my eye, I plan on that being the first and last.

Ouch, that sounds painful :( Sorry to hear that happened.

It wasn't pleasant but thankfully I only have a small bird and it wasn't higher up. It was totally my own fault for not paying attention and it healed quick.

she's trying to preen your eyelashes or beak with you. When you get two birds together they will play by pulling on eachothers beaks, the action is called beaking :-) Also they like to preen any form of hair, they've both preened my eyelashes at one time or another... or tried anyway.
