Babies that are weaned too fast usually end up with emotional and/or eating disorders so leaving her with the breeder is also not an option as he/she might not continue the hand-feeding.
I agree with you completely, though when she said 6-8 weeks I think she meant 6-8 more weeks, not 6-8 weeks from hatching.
