Don't think for a second that the people giving advice have never got things wrong, been criticised and had to change how we do things. Even now and some of us have been keeping birds for many many years. Maybe you can ask your parents to buy a new cage and then you can pay them back by getting a job, doing chores or sacrificing some pocket money each week?

If noise is a problem for you, you have a BIG problem in your hands because GCCs are very needy little things and will make a racket when left alone (they have this very loud, repetitive alarm call that can really frazzle your nerves in no time at all). There is no comparison between a GCC and a lovie when it comes to noise, I'm afraid.

I have to admit that I am bit taken aback by your decision to exchange birds, though... and I am afraid that I don't agree with where you are coming from. I don't see them as an object acquired for my pleasure and having to live up to certain expectations but as living, feeling, sentient beings so, problems or no problems, I would not dream of exchanging any of them. It would be like exchanging a child because he is not loving or intelligent or because it doesn't have the color hair I prefer... Not a good point to start from when it comes to parrots which all have one issue or another, especially GCCs which tend to be very nippy and noisy when unhappy.

Absolutely agree here but didn't mention it as I don't always say things in the right way and often upset people unintentionally. I think you have worded it very well.

I agree that they are not objects, and I didn't think of that back then. Sorry.

I've already applied for a job and have been waiting on a notice.
