Last week, me and my mother met up with a lovely couple who couldn't keep their Indian Ringnecks anymore. I'd had contact with the lady on facebook, and we all agreed our home would be great for the lil' couple - and so they drove for hours to meet up with us and possibly leave the birds - and well, that's what happened. They liked us, we liked them and the birds, and so we adopted the two Ringnecks. They're the family's birds, which I'm all fine with since I've got my Miley and my Alaska and they're wonderful. I've been and will be hanging out with the Ringies a lot and letting them out in the bird room too, though.

(I will also be in charge of their food for now, since I'm the most dedicated parrot feeder in the family - even though both of my parents grew up with birds, lol) But yeah, they're wonderful and I really love having another species around too, it's amazing how different they are from my Sennies!
Nicko, green male, is about 15 years old, and was abused when he was young, so even after years and years with his previous, lovely family, he's always been afraid of fingers and will bite if he has to - he steps up just fine on hands or arms, though. Other than that he's very social, curious, sweet and loving. And he's got such a big personality!
Meg, lutino female, is about 10 months old and untame, but she's very, very curious and does everything Nicko does - if he's hanging out with me, she will soon come flying too

She hasn't stepped up yet, but I'll be working on that - as soon as she's gotten used to everything around here. It's great that she's got Nicko though, because she's already accepting treats from me when he is.

She's such a clown, she's started chewing up pretty much every toy I own, she'll fly around a LOT, hang upside down everywhere, and just generally be a huge goof all day. <3
Back when I still had my lovebird and thought about adding a second parrot, I leaned a bit towards a Ringneck, and so I read up on them quite a bit before finally deciding on a Senegal instead - though I feel like I still have a LOT to learn! If anyone's got any useful experience with IRNs, feel free to share
Anyways, I couldn't possibly finish this thread without a whole bunch of photos, so let's go!
