Issues with glasses

Postby ShellyBorg » Mon Aug 12, 2013 2:09 am

How to remove a Senegal parrot from your glasses.
Pull parrot off shoulder and force open beak till he gives it up.
Place glasses back one face only to remove them right away because the parrot is hanging from nose piece.
Put glasses back on and look to the left to see parrot leaping at them like the raptor he is.
Pull on Senegal tail , now you are holding parrot off the ground by tail with glasses swinging from its beak. With other hand wrap fingers around neck and contemplation wringing its neck. Again remove parrot from glasses.
With hand firmly wrapped around neck give into to soft eyes and kissing noise and forgive bird.
Lean in for kiss and parrot reattaches self to glasses.
Remove glasses one more time and pull glasses one way and parrot the other.
Give up on glasses and surf the net half blind but with happy parrot that got the nasty thing off your face... :senegal:

LOL- Yep, I've given up wearing anything on me and that means doing the birds with my hair hanging down in front of my eyes because the hair band is a bird magnet.

I hope your joking about the holding Senegal by the tail part?

Ollie my green cheek is a bugger with the watch my ex-bf gave me, he can open the clasp and wont leave it alone if the clasp is shut. Once he has a fixation there's no distracting him. Probably a good thing I wont be wearing the watch anymore.

This is so funny!
I've worn glasses since the eighth grade, and I switched to contact lenses a few years ago. They work wonders! I remember a time that I put my :cockatoo: Rebel on my shoulder, and she thought that my frameless glasses were the coolest toy ever, and before I knew it my glasses were...let's say, not in perfect condition again. But yeah, it's funny how parrots react to glasses/earrings/etc.

I've got three parrots now...what will my boyfriend think?

I find that if you don't make a big deal about things, the parrot gets bored eventually (which could be minutes, hours, days, or months... but still a short span of time in the lifespan of a parrot) and gives up. If you make a big deal or say "no," that's going to be the parrot's favorite thing to do forever.

Akimi actually used mine as a step ladder to get on top of my head the other day.

I just remind her to be gentle when she's nibbling on my glasses, the same way I do when she preens a little too hard. It doesn't often work when she's fixated on my glasses, but we'll work on that.

If it is fun they don't give up.
Life has been crazy for quite some time for me. I have neglected doing anything with my hair and it is the longest ever. I was using a butterfly clip to hold it up off my neck but Myrtle likes it just as much as her other toys. She would hang on it and break the teeth until it slipped off my hair then take it. I gave them to her. I now just put a knot in my hair to keep it up.

I don't have glasses, but Kiki loves to destroy my hairties when I have one on. She is also fanatical about tearing out the teeth in zippers.

Myrtle has removed a lot of buttons.
She is so social that she goes to any man who comes in. Once a veteran from my post came to my house with a dear friend. He was so fascinated with her attention that he did not realize she was chewing the plastic off the back of his cap.
