I'm so sorry to hear you lost your first parakeet in such a sad way. There are other people on this forum that have lost birds to doors, but the doors were closing when the bird tried to go through.

Give yourself time to grieve. A differnet parakeet will never be the same, but may bring you comfort when you are ready.

Sorry about your loss. In the future, please keep all doors closed and post signs on the other side of them letting people know the bird is out.

I am so, so sorry. My heart goes out to you because I know how you feel - I lost my Senegal a few months ago and it's been awful. I am still grieving. Everyone here at the Parrot Forum has been great in helping me, likewise we are here for you if you need an outlet to express your grief. I also joined a grief forum online.

It is so hard to lose a pet, and as parrot lovers we especially understand how much it hurts. Allow yourself the time to mourn your bird and remember we are here for you if you need to talk. *Hugs*

What a bizarre story. I read your post in such a deadpan tone combined with your wording really gave it a body horror creepiness to it. Especially the end where you ask for advice on how to cope.
