Emmi cant seem to wait for her bath in the morning.

Postby KimberlyAnn » Mon Nov 18, 2013 3:06 am

Emmi has started this new thing in the morning where she flies off the cage and walks to her sink in the back of our apartment. Normally I give her a bath when I'm done with breakfast and am getting ready for work at thme! ther sink. But no, this is not good enough for her. She wants one earlier. Lol

I can see her start to get antsy and bob her head and say her name over and over again. (This part has happened for months because morning bath time is SUPER FUN!) Then down to the floor. She won't even stop to wait for me. She runs and hops for the sink then tries to fly up there herself. Being a month away from being a year old, I guess she's a big independent girl now. Lol

But it's not only bath time now...the last three nights she's decided that she can walk to the fridge because she knows that's where berries and apples come from. She walks in there and says "Emmi" and "Come here!" and "Goodnight!" which makes no sense, but whatever! Lol She also walks to her sleep cage in the evenings now too.

I keep her on a good routine, but she's about 5-10 minutes ahead of me now. I guess I will have to change my own routine. Suddenly the floor is no longer scary and for being the little bird she is...it's kinda scary to me! Hopefully her flight feathers will come in soon or I will have to start taping balloons to the floor when we have guests over who don't watch for bird crosing. Lol

Oh and I should add, baths to Emmi are in a sink. It's more of a shower because she won't take a bath in still water. It has to be running water. Otherwise I would just give her a dish in her cage. Lol

ugh these green cheeks are so darn cute! Ollie lets me know he is ready for a bath by bathing in my hair. he literally runs round and round my neck spreading his wings. it feels really weird but I have to stop him though as I'm scared he will end up hanging himself as my hair is long.

Lol They are so funny! She can fly to the couch (long U shaped couch) and will fly to us instead of stepping up from her cage. She still does this, but it just seems she's figured the floor is faster now. Tonight she wanted the peacock feathers on our glass table. Jump down...hop hop hop..."Come here! Come here Emmi Emmi!" She could have flown to the desk, but no. She did still fly a lot tonight like normal so I'm guessing walking and hopping everywhere is just her new thing she's added to the mix.

Lol Marie! I have long thick hair and she likes to burrow in it when I'm laying down. Great place for a nap on the weekends I guess. She just goes right in and tries to go under my head making her angry sounds when I won't move. Then she turns on her side and sleeps for 20 mins or so. That's getting less and less as she gets older I've noticed. She's gotten caught a few times, but she's calm about it and we just "step up" until she's out. Lol

My Lily only takes bath onto top of the refrigerator. She times her bathing routing pretty consistent; every other day. At around 1:00 PM when it is nice and warm near the ceiling (she loves to hang around on top of the curtain boxes), she flies down on top of the refrigerator and paces back and forth. That's how she is telling us that she wants her bath. We put out a large dish with about 2" of cold water. And she jumps right in. If the water is warm, she would fly away and comes back later when it is cold. After 30 seconds of bath, she flies up to the top of the curtain box to dry out and preen for 1 hour before she comes down to any body.

When she was younger, she loves to go into my bed and sleep on her back. She doesn't do that anymore. She slept on her back on top of the curtain box one day and she fell off in her sleep on her own. After that time, she doesn't sleep on her back anymore. Thank goodness, she doesn't poop on top of the curtain boxes or refrigerator, ever.

Emmi sounds so cute! Peanut doesn't mind still water, and every time I change her water she takes a bath. It's getting a bit chilly here so she isn't getting her baths as often, but when she wants a bath she 'bows' and twitches her wings. This is her begging pose, especially when she's in her cage and screeching at me to let her out (or when there's a sunflower seed around- she does this often in training).

Green cheeks are so cute! :D :gcc:

First off, sorry about my typos up there...it's my cell phone. So annoying! Just adds whatever it wants to the middle of a sentence!

The top of the fridge? Smart bird! Warm up there.

I wish Emmi would enjoy still water too. She used to. But now it has to be running water. They are so cute! But so picky. At least mine is. Tonight she just wants to dance. My husband and I are taking turns snapping so she can prance and swing her head all around. Someone help us with healthy bird boundaries! Our fingers hurt. Lol
