Corsair let me put her harness on!

Postby Harpmaker » Mon Nov 18, 2013 3:49 pm

I am so happy I have to share this! :danicing:

I made the mistake of believing the instructions that came with the harness (not Aviator) last spring, and Corsair :meyers: spent the whole time it was on fighting it. She was afraid to go near it afterwards, but if it was on a perch she would toss it away. Since then, I found Michael's blog and this forum; and Corsair and I have been working on re-training, with the Aviator. Since May. (Clearly Michael is a better bird trainer than I am)

Last night she let me put it all the way on, and take it off without screaming, biting, or fighting. She wasn't happy, but she put up with it. And she continued to put her beak through the head-loop to get treats afterward. Maybe we actually can work up to parks and street-fairs! And for all the rest of you who are discouraged because it has been a LOT longer than 3 days, keep trying!

Great job! The key is patience, repetition, and success in little bits. Extend that with time and results are assured.
