Gone

Postby Cedardave » Wed Dec 25, 2013 12:59 am

Weve had a rough couple weeks. Two sundays ago our beautiful Picasso suddenly passed. She would have been 5 years old december 24. It seems she fell and broke her neck.I found her seconds after and she died in my arms. She was a most beautiful african grey....she should have outlived me.So yesterday our 15 year old yellow collared macaw takes a fall from the top of cage to floor. He is a former breeder and has always been a little shakey on his feet.He may have suffered a siezure and fallen but this time he landed oddly. After seemingly making a full recovery...he spent the rest of his day on me and seemed normal. This morning he seemed obviously altered.Hes usually first to rise...but I had to take him from his cage...he died on my chest, close to my heart a few seemingly lifetime of hours later. Now I know what your all thinking...we are breeders of macaws, greys, quakers and a number of differant conures. We also have a number of beloved pets.Picasso and Simon were thebeloved pet part of our family. All our birds are certified disease free and tested regularly...its the responsable way to run a business and keep healthy birds. But to this end two of my beloved pets have left us.To those of you that have also suffered loss you have my sympathies...remember your never alone in your grief. To those of you who have never suffered this kind of loss.....cherish every moment you have with your feather or furred companion. You life can change forever in the blink of an eye.

Hey,

I am so sory for your loss. I lost my grey due to illness about two weeks ago. It still breaks my heart and I miss her.

I know there's nothing worse that unexpectedly saying goodbye to a member of the family. I wish you all the best

I am very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a bird even when you have a number of them but I can't help but ask you to reconsider the clipping of your birds in the future because flighted birds never actually fall even when they lose their footing or are pushed from a perch, they simply open their wings and glide down.
