Such great photos! I'm so jealous! I can only get cell phone shots of Emmi. She thinks my SLR is as scary as balloons.

Thank you!

Try to desensitize Emmi to your DSLR, because I'd love to see some photos of your parrot :).

My two guys were a bit hesitant at first, especially when I shoved the camera in their faces for mug shots, but I started to just sit in the sofa and work with my camera, lenses etc, and they soon didnt pay that much heed. Then I started with photos a bit away, and moved closer and closer. Also, turning off the focus assist light was a huge help as well.

I use a flash now (just since the last couple of days, you can see the result on these two photos), but I bounce it up and backwards so it doesnt hit them directly.

Now, they dont mind the camera at all. They sometimes even land on it when I try to photo them (much to my dismay :P)).

Beautiful! I find BWP gorgeous with their dark, iridescent chest plumage. I had a female I called Morena (means Moorish woman) and I've always wanted another one -such good birds!

Thanks Pajarita, they are indeed wonderful birds. Leroy is very thoughtful and gentle.

Desensitizing Emmi to my camera...I've been meaning to. It takes her weeks to get used to something and I'm obsessive about my camera being dusty. Maybe I will find a stand in at a second hand store? Lol

I get that you are careful with your camera, but my reasoning is: what do we have cameras for if not for using?
:D
I always use an air blower to clean my camera before putting it away.

Wow, gorgeous shots! *claps*

Skeeter apparently wants to eat my camera phone, as it's in a bright orange case. Wonder what he'll make of a proper DSLR...

Thanks!

I am sure skeeter wont mind, just introduce it slowly like I described earlier in this thread. Just having it in the same room to start with, and gradually using it closer and closer to skeeter.
Cameras do look kind of scary though :P, so doesnt hurt to do it slowly!

We'll be wanting masses of pictures when you get your little fella home :)!

Oh it gets tons of use! It goes with me everywhere and it's how I make part of my money. (another reason you won't see it just sitting at home) It's my "other" baby lol

Sounds good, maybe get a second camera body then for parrot use :)?
