It always amazes me how big toos can get when they put their feathers up. Lol

Such sweet faces. :)

I am one of the ones that 'do' and I am flabbergasted that you would defend somebody putting an animal in harm's way! A bird rescuer should know better and, if anything, he/she should be a role models and that precludes keeping the birds they are supposed to be rescuing in a substandard and dangerous environment! Metal poisoning is serious - even when you cure it, it permanently damages the liver and kidneys. And please do not tell me they have limited resources because if they have no money for safe cages, they shouldn't be taking in animals. That's what a hoarder does, not a rescuer.

You must be kidding! GAW wire has been and still is used for bird enclosures by many, many recues, zoos, and amusement parks all over the country.

Not any good rescue, that's for sure. They do use chain link but it's made of stainless steel, not galvanized wire (see this: http://www.projectperry.com/the_grey_aviary.php). Zoos are another story... I haven't been to one in years and years but they don't really love animals, they just use them as a source of revenue and, if you scratch the surface, you find abuse in all of them (I worked in a zoo for a year and quit because of that).
