Say "Thank-you"

Postby KimberlyAnn » Sat Feb 15, 2014 2:27 pm

I need to watch what I say around Emmi. Commands to do a trick are being copied word-for-word. I keep forgetting this!

This morning I was doing flight training between perches with Emmi. I would give her a chia seed and remind her to say, "thank-you" after she gets a treat. "Say thank-you," I tell her. For the year since we got her, we've done this on and off. She's very good at it, saying "thank-you" after getting a treat, even if not prompted. Maybe not all the time...but good enough.

But something clicked this morning. She would fly back and forth perfectly, get her treat, and then say loud and clear..."Say thank-you!" Oops...lol

She's also started to say, "Go potty" when she poops. Even if we are not in the room. (Also, does every bird watch their droppings fall when they have climbed high? Or is that just Emmi? Lol)

Watch what you say! Lol

LOL - Yes, they do repeat word by word. Precie often says: "Say Hello, bird!" "Hello, bird!" " Say bybye, bird!" "Byebye, bird" But her best, in my personal opinion is when she says "What in the world....?" and then immediately followed by "AHHHHH" and this is not only said with perfect pronunciation but with the exact intonation that a person would use, first in puzzlement and then the "AHHHHHH" as in 'realization' like 'Ah, so that's what it was' She cracks me up every single time she says this.
