But it didn't seem to matter. I had her outside in her travel cage, carefully locked up so accidental opening of the cage would not happen. I took great care in having the kids step back when watching her, but I soon learned Emmi didn't want them to step back at all.
This bird.
She called to them and danced for HOURS! I kept checking to see if she was ok and she just kept dancing and spinning and talking. She sang her name for them. She tried to find the beat in their clapping with no rhythm at all. Lol When they stepped too far away (about two feet) she called at them until their faces were right in front of the cage. The more kids around, the better. Amazing.
When inside, she did all her tricks and there was only one time she flew out of fear when something was dropped. Sadly, she tried to land on one child's head and made him cry. But we worked it out and that child tried to hold her later. So a very good learning situation for that child. To Emmi, it was a normal every day scare when it comes to random loud sounds.
After the kids left, I let her free fly inside and chase me through the school. She's getting very good at flight and catches me every time. But a few times, she just flew next to me and around me. I'm going to have to bring her on the weekends to free fly since there is more room. She really enjoyed it and took off on her own flights as I organized my classroom.
And needless to say, she went to bed early. I made her! Lol This was yesterday and she danced up a storm tonight too. Kept coming to me to get me to sing and clap. Sadly, she also started up with the loud chirp thing, right in my face...the bobbing her head like it's funny. Bad habit brought back from going to the school I guess. Lol oops!
I wish I could bring her every day...and I could. I just think it's best not to. Bad habits will be picked up for sure and I worry about someone taking her out of her cage when I can't man the doors because I'm working. But I will totally bring her back every few months. She has too much fun. I've never heard her talk and sing her name as much as she did in the four hours she was there.
And I think she's now a fan of the song "Let it go" from Frozen. I really hope she won't start repeating the words. I literally hear that song from the kids every day...for the last four months! Lol
