Awwww, poor little guy! I hope there are no lasting negative consequences because of what they did to him...

This made my whole day! He is so sweet! Your staff vet is an angel and I hope you and Percy have many, many years together! I just don't understand why people get an animal and then are unwilling to pay for its vet care. There's always a way. We have a special "fund" for our animals' medical costs. Money goes into that every payday so that when something does happen, we have the means to take care of it.

Congrats and welcome!

Thank you for the pics. I don't understand why humans do these things, but I don't think it wise for me to get started about this subject so I will say no more about it other than to say thank you for caring enough to help Percy in his time of need.
He is sooo cute and adorable, it is a shame that this stage of his life is so short. Needless to say that you have a friend for life, once you get through his coming of age. Please keep us updated on his progress and please keep the pictures coming.

There are a lot unknowns with Percy! He unbanned and the people who relinquished him never gave the breeders name or any health info so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! :macaw:

I am sure that you have probably thought of this already, but if Percy has a band you may be able to track down the breeder through that.

She has just stated he has no band, which is real weird because all large species have them. The concern is about his future eating habits and general temperament. There are studies that show that birds that were stressed out as babies remain high strung and nervous the rest of their lives. Also, although there are no studies to this effect with parrots, there is anecdotal evidence that birds that had painful or distressing handfeeding when babies are more prone to developing a chronic eating disorder.

I apologize for not realizing that unbanned was actually unbanded, my bad.
