bringing home babies

Postby Tman007 » Thu Jun 26, 2014 4:59 pm

Well here in Vegas it has been hot (103 and up). But today was over cast and just in the 80's so I decided to go and get my baby. While I was there I keep on looking at this Gcc and so I gave it some thought and brought him home too. So I have Amos( Jenday conure ) and Andy( green cheek conure) These pictures are not great but I really don't want to handled Them just yet. I want to take it nice and slow. Patience is what I have. They both will let me scratch their heads through the bars. But I still want tem to get use to their cages. Amos is just under a yr. Andy is 31/2 months. thanks for looking

Nice looking birds. I am hoping for the best for you and them. Look into different perches for them though as dowels are not good for their feet and they could use a few more toys than what we can see in the pics.

Wolf just to give you a heads up, that is a branch in the back ground I have a few of Michael's perches in each one and some other perches I found here in town. I took the dowels out as soon as I saw them. as for toys right now they have 5 toys each and more on the way. They should be here next week. Also thanks for the kind words.

That is wonderful, just couldn't see by the photo and like you I just want them to be happy. And they still look like great birds to me. Thanks for correcting my error.

They are beautiful but I hope you did not bite more than you can chew because you have two needy birds there and one very loud one so that means hours and hours and hours of one-on-one with each on a daily basis while the other is in a cage (GCCs are not known for 'liking' other birds).

They are beautiful, Tman007! Congratulations!

I know (as a lot of us do) how hard it is to resist a friendly GCC. They are so darn cute! I know that a bird that needs to be with you all the time is more than I can handle these days, but from the fans on this forum, it seems to be awesome if you have time and energy for it.

Enjoy your birds!

I put a lot of thought into it before I decided on getting the two. Pajarita you are right about Gcc at the store they had to move a bird that was in the cage next to him, because he was trying to bite it's feet. But just a few updates. They both are eating fine. I was sitting with them and watched them eat and drink, last night and this morning. I and Amos (Jenday conure) let me know how he liked his morning meal. I give him a scoop of pellets and he sat on his perch and looked at me then the pellets, then back at me. So I put in another small scoop and he started to eat. LOL. Pajarita thank- you for your concern I will tell you this I am putting 100% into these birds. They are just so much fun.
