Here is an update on Amos and Andy. I have been just bonding with my little guys, no pressure on my at all. All I have been doing is getting them use to me. One of the things I did was work on them taking a treat from my hand letting them know these big hands would not hurt them but have treats in them. I used my left and right so they would get use to both hands having treats. Then when they were looking forward to me opening up the cage and handing them treats, I started to hold the treat out past my hand to see if I could get them to step up on my hand. Amos was the first to step up. Andy would hang in his cage and watch me give Amos treats. Then I went over to Andy and the first time he stepped up I won't say he bit me, but he kept on grabbing me till he found a soft spot and just clamped on. I told him quit. I like the sound of quit for stopping biting to hard. It took a few days of these hard grabs before Andy started to come around. (also he would watch me work with Amos and see that Amos was getting more treats.) Then yesterday I put my hand in his cage and before I could tell him to step up he was on my finger and looking for his treat. Now that they both are stepping up I have been letting them out one at a time to get some out of cage time with me. This is just to much fun LOL. I can see were someone would go over-board on training. But I am not. I just want to continue to bond, and gain more of their trust. I better stop for now, I could talk about them all night long LOL. Here are a few pictures These were a few days ago I I didn't want to stress them to much while they were eating. I took these from across the room.
Tman, I like your attitude of bonding before teaching. I only teach mine the necessities. They teach me what they can do. They learn language like children. Myrtle is 4 now and should be doing better but she really enjoys "baby blabber".
