Cage seems to be adequate as long as he doesn't spend too many hours in it. He has dowel perches in there (not your fault, they come with the cage) and those are not good. I like to use regular tree branches for my birds. I just use branches from the trees in my backyard (which I know are not poisonous and have not been sprayed with anything), they provide not only the perfect surface (uneven diameter and shape as well as bounce) but also because the birds love to peel the bark off them and they are free! And don't use a sandpaper perch, they are rough all around and can irritate the soles of their feet.

You might want to put a towel or something covering one of the upper corners because, although it is against a wall, the top part is exposed because the window is there.

We just did a bunch of preening off some big bushes in front of our house last week, and we kept all the branches we clipped! I will research what type of bushes they were and if their branches are good for birds!

Once you find out whether they are OK or not and, if they are, the next time you trim the branches, use them for the bird with leaves and all (you can even stick a couple on the outside of the cage for the bird to climb up on them -just stick the end between two bars and tie it with some untreated sisal rope -which they also love to chew on). They love to trim all the leaves off first, then they start on the smallest branches tips and work their way down to the bigger ones which they strip of bark before they chew the wood. I tell you, it's the best deal ever! They are not only free, they provide all different kinds of entertainment on top of been the best perch for their feet and legs!

Gordon, I suggest you take her to an avian vet for a complete exam because parrots don't sleep on the bottom of a cage unless there is something going on. They always sleep perching (and, usually, as high as they can get) it's the way that nature meant for them to sleep (prey birds never sleep on the ground if they can help it -not even chickens do it and they can't even fly). Aside from the safety issue, their feet are not meant to be flat on the ground and it's uncomfortable for them to have them that way for hours.
