Wow, that's really one for Guinness because most people never find their bird. Maybe you can find an used cheap larger cage and buy it for the ringneck.

Since I really am the bone headed one here and have only one reason to be here, the birds, I have a suggestion. Please don't take what I am about to say wrong, because I mean no disrespect.
Instead of sending someone to this other person, go to them yourself. Many people are in a bad situation through no fault of their own, and just don't know how to make it better, but it doesn't mean that they are bad people. I myself lived on the streets for many years before I was able to make things better. This person wasn't after your money, they wanted a friend, and really still do. So this person did the best that they knew how to do and saved your bird from an even worse fate, so why don't you take a chance and try to be a friend to this person? You have the perfect excuse to try, you traded them a bird and you say that you care about the bird that you gave them and would like the bird to have a better life than what you believe you left it to, so show the person the truth of these words of yours and do this yourself. In the long term if your words are true it will means so much more to the bird, this person and yourself if you do this personally and not through someone else as if you thought yourself above them. Think about this.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to include this on my post since it was centered on getting Rio back.
During the process, I've realized that the person really did meant well and did his best to take care of Rio. This is also the reason why I went through so much just to find a breeder that could sell me a healthy bird the exact same day. I could have given him any kind of bird, but I chose a ringneck because I considered the story he told me that he had a talking bird before. I could have just given him any kind of bird I could find at the moment but I did not. I used my savings to buy him a companion that would fit his expectations. Before I left with Rio, I sincerely thanked him for buying Rio instead of letting his neighbor sell it to the pet "black market".
I don't want to impose my knowledge on caring for birds on him, since he thinks what he's doing is enough. What I did was I shared my own story on how I care for my birds hoping he'd copy what I do.
The reason why I'm asking someone to go back there instead of me is because I go to school. I don't have that much time to always visit the place. From time to time, I would definitely visit, but again I would not like to impose because he might think I think too small of him.
As for the cage, I want to give him a bigger one after I've saved money again, but my family said I've already spent so much for them (expensive bird). Nevertheless, when I've saved enough, I would buy even a 2nd hand cage. I'm thinking I'll give it as a Christmas gift so as not to hurt his pride.
I'm sorry if I offended you or anyone else. I thought it would be fine to just keep the post centered on getting Rio back.
I grew up with a protective family so I'm not that exposed to the outside, but I am always open to understanding others.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. Please tell me again if I have said anything wrong. Again, I am truly sorry.

No, No, No. You have not offended anyone here. But if you think about it, I am sure that you will come to realize that this person is really looking for a friend. You don't have to spend a lot of time to be a friend or to share what you have learned about taking care of birds. You know an extra 20 minutes or so once or twice a month if you can find the time would be enough. Get to know the person and his life, genuine interest as well as a common bond ( birds ) can go a very long way. Show him pictures of your birds set up and maybe help him to build a couple of perches for his bird. All little things that take no money. Just think about it, then do what you think is best.

Thank you for your input. I will do my best to be able to visit them once in a while and get to know them. I would really love to show people here in the Philippines how they should take care of their birds. Most of the people here think that birds are just for displays and amusement (inside the cage all day and just wanting them to talk). I will consider the things that you've said. Thank you. :)

You have a good heart! Ask around, maybe somebody in you family knows somebody whose bird died and still have the cage around and are willing to let you have it. Also, I would suggest a 'Thank You' package with some bird items (maybe some bird treats, a small bag of nuts, some inexpensive toys -you can make them yourself- a couple of fresh veggies, fruits and leafy greens, some small bags of whole grains for this person to cook for the bird, nothing too expensive, just thoughful). This way you can start the person on the right track without offending him/her.

Congratulations, HeartHaze! You found your bird after 5 years, and he was taken care of by someone who did their best for him, but was willing to trade to get him back. Definitely time to celebrate. Woohoo! :danicing:

You also have a potential new friend who loves parrots! :hatched: Maybe you can take Rio back to visit him sometimes.

Now you get to help Rio and Quincy learn to tolerate each other.
