Fajr was happy to see me again

Postby shiraartain » Tue Aug 05, 2014 5:39 pm

I went to Maryland for a competition this past weekend (left Thursday at midnight and got back on Monday) with one of my sisters, and to be honest, I didn't expect Fajr to even notice I was gone. He spends so much time with all of us, especially our Dad, that I didn't think he would notice or care. But I returned around sunrise on Monday morning and took him out of his cage and he started making tiny chirps that i've never heard from him before. He ditched me for my dad when he came into the room though and promptly let loose his morning dump on my dad's work shirt  .

According to my mom, he also said my name once while I was gone but for some reason I have a hard time believing that. Cute to think about though :)

Well, of course he was happy to see you! GCCs are VERY affectionate little birds! And, yes, he could have learned your name. I don't see why not! Two of my GCCs talked, one of them quite a number of words.

I keep reading this post over and over, but haven't replied before as I was trying to wrap my mind around the concept of a relationship where this bird would not notice you not being there or not caring. I just can't picture any good relationship that would fit the bill. So, I just have to ask, why would you think that he wouldn't notice or care that you were gone ?

So I've typed up a response to this 3 times, but gotten distracted each time and didn't even save my replies. Essentially, however, Fajr was entertained the entire time I was gone. His bond with my parents is really strong, so I assumed he wouldn't have time to think about my absence. I'm happy he did, though :).
