New "Tree" Adventures

Postby MOWMAI » Thu Sep 04, 2014 12:51 pm

Neither of my parrots fly. One because he has only one wing, the other I peg to laziness or general disinterest. For my birds who love to climb and forage and burrow, I bought a cat tree online.

It was big and scary for them at first, but Grinch quickly got used to it.

Excuse any mess you see, this is a temporary spot for the tree. I'm not too sure where it's going to end up, but it's a nice space for them to hang out in my room for now.

Boo took a little coaxing.

I used a few peanuts to encourage him to take a look around and get used to the new structure.

I'm going to add some attachments to make it more exciting and easier for them to get around.
: ) but for now I hope they like their new tree.

Innovative. I hope they like it. I'd think it would be hard to clean.

There's only been one accident on the actual structure itself so far, I have some cleaning wipes handy and the material doesn't appear to stain easily, so that was a nice surprise. Otherwise, if they have to poop they direct it off the edges, which I will be lining the floor beneath the tree to catch the mess when I plan on keeping them on the structure for longer periods of time. Right now they're getting used to it in small doses, and they will never be left on it when I'm not around. : ) luckily most other messes, like seeds and shells, I can vacuum off easily. The nice thing about the material is they can climb it easily and Boo enjoys ripping, chewing and poking holes, so he enjoys walking around and touching it. I will be adding perches to it, though, so they can sit in a more natural state.

Yep, very creative. I would have never though of using a cat condo but then I am a tree branch kind of person :D Be careful about the 'nests' on it, though.
