I could never imagine Pod wanting to sleep with me. When it is time to go to bed for him...I never have to make him. He starts acting up,,,then gets a little snuggly,,,then flies back and forth to his cage...and from his perch calls to me to come cover his cage. Between six and seven pm.

She has only slept with me twice in three years. Something was bothering her so she did not want to be alone.

I am learning so much from reading your posts. And realize now I gave up on my eclectic to soon. Sure he missed the hen he was with but was young so probably not a mate just his friend.
But lesson learned I will go slow with Kiwi and not push to hard. And let him set the rule's on how much and when. At age 57 I will not live forever and a tame loving parrot will be something my nieces will take when I get to old. But a attack bird has little chance of a pet home were he would not be ignored and locked up 24/7

Hi debdans:
We all have a list of mistakes that we have made in regards to our birds and that is a shame but the most important thing is what we were able to learn and take away from the experience with us, and hopefully we all were able to learn enough to not repeat the same mistake again. I suspect that my list of mistakes is much longer than yours is and hopefully much shorter than Pajarita's list. It is all relative and hopefully we all came away from these mistake a changed and better person because of these mistakes. If you are trying, then you are going to make mistakes and if you make mistakes you are learning, while this is not the only way in which we can learn, if we are not making some mistakes we are neither trying nor learning.

Wolf is 100% correct! The ONLY way to become a good parrot keeper is not aspiring not to make mistakes because that is IMPOSSIBLE but to realize that we have made a mistake and correct it. It's only the people who refuse to admit they made a mistake who never become good parrot keepers.

I am a straight talker. I will not say you did well if I think you didn't. Instead, I will say you did wrong and explain why. I don't adorn my postings and I don't stroke people's egos so some people think I am a nasty know-it-all who thinks nobody is as good as I am. But it's not true. I just have no patience with people who don't want to learn and are, instead, just looking for a pat in the back. So, please, when you read my posts, read them out loud in a neutral tone of voice and not putting a tone or a feeling that is all in your head. And, if you don't agree with me, please say so, post your reference and we will discuss it. I love a good debate and I love learning new things, especially about birds!

So please start a new topic and tell us about Lemon and about his/her biting. When does he bite? What is going on when he bites? Anything at all that might help us to understand why he is biting and we will be very glad to try to help you with this.

LOL That is almost as funny as Myrtle sleeping in a paper bag because she was afraid of being caged again.
