No, all parrots do the same thing. Putting a foot up in front of another bird (or a human) means "I don't want to move but I want you to stay away". It's a warning. A mild warning but a warning nonetheless. Some birds do learn to wave and use it to communicate but I doubt Connor was saying Hello to Blu so, if I were you, I would not 'push' the interaction by putting them together or close to each other, let them figure out what kind of relationship they will end up having but, if you ask me, I doubt Connor will become friends with him -although I hope I am wrong and he does!

Okay. I had them out for playtime today and I think Connor was trying to get to preen him. He was fluffing his feathers and putting his head down and turning it and walking over to Blu. He sat there and when Blu didn't do anything he sat up and just sat there. I am not super good at reading parrot body language so I will leave that to you haha

I think Connor is guardedly trying to figure Blu out.

Okay. I had them out again and I watched as Blu preened Connor. Connor was touching Blu with his beak but Blu seemed uncomfortable since Connor is larger than him

Connor is very young and still not bonded deeply to you but there might be a time in the future when he could see Blu as competition for your affection so, unless Blu is flighted and very able at it, you need to supervise very closely their interactions.

Blu is flighted and at the first sign of trouble he takes flight to his cage. He isn't the best flyer though haha. Connor was chasing Blu of my shoulder so I am a little worried about that :?

So a little update on Blu and Connor. Connor and Blu are enjoying each others company. They follow each other around when they are out of there cages and Connor lets Blu preen him. Blu absolutely adores connor as he will fl to connor and make little happy noises the second I let them out. Connor tried to preen Blu but Blu is so much smaller Connor may be a little ruff as Blu made angry chattering noises at him. A few days ago I took a large serving platter and filled it with water and they LOVED the water. Connor was rolling around and Blu was crouching as low as he could with his wings out and walking around which was adorable. Now that they know each other I have not seen any aggressive behavior. I still keep a close eye on them as Blu is pretty rambunctious and I dont know how Connor will react if he gets really frustrated.

Do any of you have any idea why whenever Blu is out he flies to my window in my room and tries to eat the sheetrock?

Parrots are chewers. But, if Blu has chewing toys in his cage (budgies LOVE the dry yucca toys!) and still prefers to chew the sheetrock, he might be needing calcium (sheetrock has an outer layer of plaster -aka gypsum- which is a form of calcium, not the best source when it comes to nutrition but a source nonetheless). Do you give them any kind of vitamins/minerals? I give mine a 1.5 daily dosage in their water once a week just so it can cover whatever deficiency their diet might have AND supply vit D3 so they can absorb the calcium provided by the cuttlebones they all have access to -and the budgies love them!

I dont add any vitamins or minerals to there water. He has a cuttlebone but he seems to like the sheetrock more. Should I use Vitamins and minerals?
