Ok good haha. It was alarming at first. Blu definitely has changed. Connor tried to shove him off the chair and Blu climbed right up and over him.

When I was getting out my birds yesterday Connor was acting funny. He was staying at the back of his cage and staring at me. He wouldn't step up and was even nipping. I sat down with Blu and waited for him to come out on his own. He did so I went over and he still wouldn't step up. I sat down and once he came out from behind his cage I went over and leaned in to give him a kiss on the beak. He launched forward and sank his beak right into my lip. I jerked back out of reflex and that sent him flying to the floor. I grabbed him and put him back in the cage. I sat down to nurse my wounds and was very angry. He had never broken the skin and drawn blood like this and this upset me. I got over my anger pretty quickly set about trying to figure out the cause of the bite. After alot of thinking it hit me..... I had my contacts on. I ran to the bathroom and put my glasses back on and sure enough Connor ran right up to my hand and stepped up. He sat with me on the chair for a few hours and was either cuddling the back of my neck or sleeping on my chest as long as I rested my head down for him to snuggle haha

Oh, poor baby was scared of the 'strange' face. Yes, things like that do make a difference to them. Sorry about the bite (must have hurt like the dickens!) but kudos to you for figuring it out!

It sure did hurt. I still have a puffy lip today. I knew something had made him upset so I wanted to know why.

I have held off asking about it but I feel like I sound. Connor likes to chew on fingers and any other appendage like noses or ears. How would I stop this behavior. Is it just him playing? He doesn't always bite but if I move my hand towards him he clamps down. Not enough to break the skin but it hurts. The day I first meet Connor at the store he bite me on the nose but I was so in love with him I didn't care. Now I love him just as much or even more but he can be a brat at times.

When Kiki was in her bitey stage with me and even now on occasion I have to tell her " No Bite" and put her down for a few minutes so that she knows that biting is not allowed. I am not talking about the little exploratory nibbling, but bona fide bites. This works, but as in all things parrot, it does take a little time and you must be consistent. It works because they usually want to be on you more than they want to bite.

Myrtle is on me more but they will both clamp down on my finger. They then wiggle their little tungs. Neither one actually bit me. The worst thing I have to protect myself from is Myrtle using my ear as a handle. I just say owe. They can also get a little rough while preening and I have to say owe. They only preen the ones they love.
