Live and learn

Postby c marvel » Thu Nov 13, 2014 2:50 am

Tonight I made a quick bowl of oatmeal. I'd left Vest, my baby senegal, on top of his cage. You might guess what happened. He really liked the smell of my oatmeal and hopped from his cage top into the bowl. Oh dear... I won't repeat that mistake. :hatching:

Oatmeal is a favorite, as is pasta, rice and any grain. I always have to smear a large spoon full on feeding dishes for them before I can eat mine. Rambo and Myrtle wait impatiently while I blow on it to cool. The cockatiels get noisy to remind me they want their share.

Nah. He landed right on the edge of the soup mug I was using.

Yes, they all love soft stuff and even more when it's warm (reminds them of their parents feeding them warm food from their crop -it also brings them into breeding condition when they are borderline) but, please, only old-fashioned oatmeal and without any sugar or milk. I have switched from regular oatmeal (the rolled oat kind) to Irish (the steel cut kind) and I have found that I like it 100 times better -only thing is, you need to cook it for 40 minutes, but I don't mind.
