Axel
Well about a little over a month ago I went into the bird store and Robin the owner showed me here two new addition. They were a pair of Galahs. Well I went home with the male. Since I had no place to quarantine him my friend said I could let him stay at her house for the month. I took him to the vet everything checks out he is health. So yesterday I brought him home. I put him in his cages with food water. and just let him relax and get used to his new place. Well to day when I went in the bird room I said hello to everyone. I took out Axel ( that's his name) Amos just went crazy he was all puffed up and just did not like the fact that I was with Axel. Now the funny thing is Amos and Andy don't really like each other either but Amos never acts this way when I am holding Andy. So I put Axel up, and took out Amos and started to love on him and he seamed to be ok. So I took out Andy and gave him some love. When I put Andy down on the other training perch Amos flew over to Andy and started a fight. I didn't realized who much Amos was attached to me, until today. So now I have to work on having everyone get along. I will keep Axel in his cage when Amos is out and Amos in when Axel is out for now. But if anybody has any other idea's please let me know.

Everytime that you bring in a new bird or human or other animal, you change the flock dynamics and it takes time for things to adjust and for everyone to settle in. It throws everyone off and, yes, it even inspires jealousies and sometimes loyalties that previously were not there. Everyone has to figure out who everyone else is and how they all fit together. It just takes time and patience.
Nice looking Galah, I understand that the male can become quite a handful upon reaching maturity.

Amos really wanted to attack Axil but could not get him.

Rambo bit my ear when a man came too close. He really wanted to bite the man but I was closer.

Myrtle has always picked on Rambo. Trying to get him to fly she will push him off the cage. Trying to get him to play she will take things from him. These two are bonded and don't like being separated. If Myrtle is away too long Rambo will call to her.
Yesterday they were both on top of the cockatiels cage. I heard screaming and when I turned around all I saw where green feathers. Both were screaming. All I could think to do was get hold of both sides and pull to get them apart. They were both ruffled but calmed down quick.
I always knew if there was a fight that Rambo would win. I just didn't know she would push him that hard.

Be VERY careful and cover the other cages when you let one bird out because that's how they end up with no toes or beaks. GCCs don't take kindly to other birds, have no notion of how small they are and have soft beaks so be careful or he will end up with only half a beak. Galahs are also VERY jealous birds, I've never had one but going by what other people tell me and observing my friend's (she even attacks my friend's children -they are all grown so no biggie but she did grow up with them in the house and has never accepted them, she only loves my friend), they are not good birds for a mixed flock. I hope from the bottom of my heart that I am wrong but I am afraid that you don't have a good combination, my dear.

Pajarita Thank you for answering my post. What I did this morning was walk up and say good morning to Amos first then Andy then Axel. I then took out Amos and Andy for awhile. Put them up and took out Axel. Axel is just a baby only 6 months old, Amos is the one that hates it that I pay attention to Axel. I am hoping that they will just get use to us having a routine. I will take things slow, and not rush into anything. Just like Amos and Andy they have their own perches when they are outside of their cages. I just hope that in time they will just be ok with each other being outside of the cages. Right now Amos is the aggressor, So I make sure that I let him know that he is number one. He is the first one I say good morning to and the last one I say good night to just like I always have. With all that I have read, I should say with all that I have studied and I am still studying. And with the right attitude, I do believe that I can get them to a point that they will at least let each other sit on their own perch while I am with them I will never leave them alone all together. And at least the very minimum not get stress out over each other. :gcc: :jenday: :galah:
