Essentially, we received a Quaker and a Ringneck through an acquaintance of my father's who had then for about 1.5 months. We received their toys, travel and living cages, food and will be receiving their gym soon as well. These two are my dream birds that I intended to adopt at some point later on life, but the world works in mysterious ways. The two arrived this afternoon, and are quite relaxed. They seem to be bonded, as they were preening one another and cuddling together. The ringneck shows signs of aggression towards hands while the Quaker seems to be afraid of hands. They were fine with us sitting next to their cage and talking and proceeded to preen themselves and move around. The 90 day quarantine begins now, though I plan to move Fajr to a different floor come tomorrow as he caught a glimpse of them and his curiosity was piqued.
The pair's diet is severely lacking and I will begin transitioning them this week. I plan to post on a separate thread about that tomorrow.
According to the previous owner, the quaker has mated and is due to lay an egg, but considering the bird's diet and the number of dangerous "toys" which were in the cage, I'm not sure that this information is the most reliable. The birds were chewing on a pair of headphones when they arrived!
