The Hulk scared my bird!

Postby Harpmaker » Sat May 02, 2015 7:29 pm

We were watching a DVD of the Avengers. Corsair was watching from my shoulder, as she often does. In the first scene when Bruce Banner turned into the Hulk, Corsair shrieked and flew into another room. I had to go there and give her scritches to calm her down. I think it was probably the noise when the Hulk roared with anger. Anyway, she flew back a few minutes later, landed on my shoulder, and said "Nite nite" firmly, so I put her to bed, even though it was still a little early.

aww. Hope she didn't have nightmares that night. That's too cute, asking to go to bed because she didn't want to watch the movie anymore.

The other day, when i was making human breakfast, Julian flew directly into the butter :/ haha, and just tonight I was on the phone to my mum and had to pause to say "Julian, get out of my mouth" as hes taken to nibbling my lips :/

Awww, poor baby! And how smart of her to realize quiet time was needed and ask for it!

Roonil, don't let him get into your mouth, humans have a huge amount of bad bacteria in their mouths.

Yeah - hes only just started it up the last couple of days. I fear that it will be a re-occurring thing, and have actively been trying to discourage it :) :)

Birds have a thing about mouths. I have to repeatedly remind Akimi to stay out of mine, and I was swapping stories with my upstairs neighbour about how he would sometimes wake up to his cockatiels sticking their heads in his mouth while he was sleeping.

It's fascinating how much they pay attention to the TV. Akimi responds mostly to the sound, and she likes watching YouTube videos with other birds in them. I've even heard of birds like macaws responding negatively to violent TV shows and laughing at comedies. It probably has as much to do with the bird responding to the owner's response to the TV, but it would be interesting to see a study on how highly intelligent birds respond to different kinds of TV programs and whether that might mean they have some comprehension of what they're watching. :)

My house was hit by lightning last week. The sound and vibration was awful. Rambo flew in the room and did not care how he landed as long as it was near me.
