Parrot owner appeals ban

Now, you know these people are, to a certain extent, lying because parrots don't usually make a peep at night.

Whilst I agree that the neighbours may be over exaggerating about the noise, I really wonder whether it's appropriate for anyone but a zoo or a charity to own around 500 parrots, I wonder what the owner is doing with so many, breeding to sell, taking in unwanted birds or collecting, the story neglects to say what the owner's doing with so many birds in the first place.

I personally believe that if you can't remember the given names of each individual pet then you have too many- that's my thoughts on it anyway...

The neighbors said 500 but the person with the birds says only up to 200. I do wonder somewhat about having that many birds. I understand that not that many would be companion birds, but you can care for more birds in aviary settings than as companion birds.

Rescues usually have large numbers of birds. I had around 240 for years in mine, sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more but usually around 240 and yes, I did know the names of all of them although some were real difficult to recognize so they ended up been named with numbers - like grey tiels, for example, which all look the same from a distance and, when they are flying around in a room, it's hard to distinguish the very subtle and small details that make them unique so I would have Dorian I, II and III. I have over 60 animals under my care right now (dogs, cats, parrots, passerines, one mouse) and I not only know all their names but also all their personal little quirks, likes and dislikes, physical condition, etc... it's really not that hard, it just takes observing them.

But this guy might be a breeder because he keeps them outside in a climate that is not propitious for that.
