Let's hope the improvement continues and that it doesn't show up again once he becomes sexually mature.

The chances of that are next to none. I do expect that there might be some agression and there may be problems between Gaugan and he at puberty, but right now I am going to enjoy my relationship with him. Most of his outings will be to my daughters since he loves the flocking with her birds right now. Most of Gaugans outings will be in the car to just go park and look at things because that is what she loves.

What you need to realize here and since you dont like the name whisperer I will say i am an animal magnet. I have been able to help every bird that i have set out to so far. When I am at someones house and they say there bird doesnt like anyone else, there is that bird on me by the end of the evening. in this case we are talking about a bird who is right in front of me, so i can see how he responds and am learning who he is as a parrot. i bond deeply to all my animals and i am determined enough to bring about what i set out to do, and in this case its a happy well adjusted parrot. i have been able to even have my few rescues become happy little beings who were able to have outings. A baby is easy compared to an older rescue. I originally posted in this chain because the person had a baby Meyers and i wanted to share stories and enjoy my baby bird. i appreciate suport but there was too much "Chicken Little" and the sky is not falling.

It's not that I don't like the word 'whisperer', I like it just fine and I do believe that there are people who do deserve to be called 'horse', 'dog' or whatever 'whisperer'. It's that it's hard to believe that somebody has this kind of special power when the name is self-conferred.

I don't know if the " whisperer" thing is a real thing in the manner that I mostly observe it being applied. It is not that I disbelieve in its possibility, it is more like that I think that if it is real than it is likely to be far less common than it is used today. I also believe that almost any issue can be solved by learning to actually listen to what the said animal is trying to communicate to us, this is not something that most people take the time to do. On the other hand, I don't care if someone wants to call themselves this or any other thing, time will always reveal if it is true or not and I neither have to do or say a single word about it. I guess that I think that a person has the right to be what they want to be or even to aspire to it and if calling themselves something helps them to achieve it then I am good with it.

pajar, get over the word whisperer then, it is just a word used to try to communicate and if it keeps you from being able to read the rest of the stuff just ignore it. When I was younger I called myself an animal magnet, and it hasnt always been pleasant. The worst experience i ever had with it is I went to the my docotors clinic for an appoinemnt and they had a cat there that day. I was told it was a stray and it was the office mascot for now. There was an older lady holding the cat, but the cat started struggling, It kept going to the floor, and I had a feeling then that it might be trying to get to me, I tride to look away and concentrate on something else but the cat broke away, and ran up me put its head on my chest and purred and purred and drooled......and the drool smelled really bad. I had a lunch meeting after my doctor appointment and I smelled like horrible drool. I had to buy a new shirt on the way and wait until i got home to take a bath. Most of the time it is a pleasant experience to interact with animals. I find it easier to comunicate and understand animals than people. Animals are honest. When I look at Sunnys eyes I can see what he can be and I encourage that. Animals can sense what we feel too, and we affect them, what Sunny feels from me is a strong confidence and belief in him. Later on when my two are established I will get a rescue bird to add in. I am very happy with the way Gaugan and Sunny are beginning to relate. They can be out playing together fairly close when I am in the room without fighting now and it is very important for Sunny, he really likes the flocking experience. The visits next door are really helping him to have confidence in new things too.

Pajar, I also dont think it is a special power, I think we all have the ability to be sensitive enough to communicate with more of ourselves. Its like anything else, if you are good at drawing pictures but you dont practice, someone who wasnt good who practices can get better than you. you are born with what you have, if you use it then it devlops. What we have to bring to our birds is what we have learned up to the point we get them. To me parrots are beings with feathers and I relate to them as a fellow being with two legs. We are doing fine and dont need "Chicken Little" My purpose is just to reassure so i dont get anymore worry about my baby bird that is not necessary and not accurate.

I hope you told the people at the clinic that the poor cat needed a dental. And, I told you, it's not the word 'whisperer' per se, it's the self-promotion behind it.

Ok, folks, This is beginning to turn the wrong way and I really don't see that it is benefitting anyone. What do you say about all of us agreeing to a truce and letting this one fall by the wayside?
