Just an update on the Rescue Senegal, She is doing well, and fitting in well in my daughters home, She was very neurotic at first, but has made a lot of progress and is in a nicer cage with better size perches and more appropriate toys.

That's very good news! I love senegals... they tend to be more trouble than other birds but I still love them.

I love Senegals too and all the Pois. each bird is sure an individual though. My daughter Meyers and my Meyers are so different.

Pepper the Meyers, almost 5 months old, likes everyone is not really afraid of people or birds. he likes a lot of attention, and is very independant in the way he wants to do things by himself with no help. He has to have a relationship with everyone and if a parrot doesnt want to be close and preen with him he will get agressive and force an interaction. He is fearless with most new situations and people. He gets jealous if he is not getting the most attention. He also gets jealous if another parrot is on my daughter. He likes to greet every new person that enters his house, and wants to be on them for a while. He is a bird of many moods.

Sunny the Meyers, almost 7 months old, is cautious of new people and needs to be talked sweetly to before he warms up to a person. He gets along with all birds. He is cautious of new situations and has to be sure there is no danger. Sunny is very independant, and is constantly active exploring one thing after another and very acrobatic. You can constantly see him hanging by one foot or even from his beak. He loves attention and loves to be scritched, and when he decides to preen you, he is sweet and loving and gentle. He has never shown any jealousy and is a very even tempered bird.

Yes, that's the thing with parrots, they have individual personalities... and, to make things more difficult for us, they change A LOT as they become sexually mature and continue to change as they get older. Parrots are not easy pets, that's for sure!

Gaugan is the only parrot I have ever had that doesnt "clam up" when company is over, she will chat away and even come up with new sentences I have never heard before. She laughs whenever anyone else laughs. Sunny talks mostly at one period of the day when he sings and chats for an hour or so.

My Freddie is like that, a total ham! I have him on my shoulder and he is saying Hello! while lifting his foot and stretching his neck to give kisses to people

He is a 23-24 year old male Lesser Sulfur Cockatoo. I had a guy the day before yesterday come over to do a roof inspection and give me an estimate for a new one and, when he saw the parrots downstairs he asked me if he could take pictures to show his son to which, of course, I said yes. And, when we were going up to the attic, I stopped on the second floor and opened the door to the birdroom so he could see inside (I am always and forever showing off my birds to anybody who shows the slightest interest  ) and I called Freddie to me to show him and he was hamming it up for the man big time! Saying "Hello" and "How you doing?", waving his foot, opening his crest and whipping his head and giving me a big loud MWAHH kiss every time I said a word that the man ended up laughing so hard he couldn't get his phone steady enough to take pictures  Everybody loves Freddie and he loves everybody - so much so that he is the one I always take with me when I give chats to children.
