Well, there are wild-caughts and then there are wild-caughts because a baby taken from a nest in the wild is a wild-caught but if he is young enough to need hand-feeding, he will imprint to humans while older birds, birds that KNOW they are birds and that humans are predators, are another story altogether.

As to training, yes, of course you can train any animal, domesticated, undomesticated, captive bred or wild born, but training is not bonding or teaching them to trust you, it's just training. And that was the OP's beef.

I agree with you Loki was very easy to tame but Rocko acted very wild and didnt learn step up until about 4 months of owning him and now hes very tame and I own him 7-8 months now hes a year old.But I think training actually is good for bonding but not teaching them to trust you thats why I train my birds because they bond more with me I also teach them to play with foraging toys I make for them.

Well, difference in docility aside, neither of your birds are wild-caught, they were both bred in captivity and, even when they are parent-raised (as most tiels are), they still develop a certain familiarity with humans that wild-caught never have.

Well as far as I know the OP was upset about trainers claims and must have bought things in the belief that it would help to tams some abused and terrified bird that he got. I would love to try to help this person, but for that to happen the OP needs to come back with a civil tongue and tell us what the problem is so that we can help.

I agree but, apparently, the OP just wanted to vent... shame about that because we could have given him/her some good pointers.

The one thing I've noticed about some wild caught birds is that they react better if you look at them kind of sideways, so they only see one of your eyes.
It kind of makes sense if you think about it. Two eyes facing forward, binocular vision, those are the eyes of a predator. There is probably nothing good that happens in the wild once a creature has two eyes fixed on them.

Yes, you are correct. But it doesn't only apply to wild-caught, it applies to all birds that don't trust us so we actually give this advice to everybody with a new, scared bird.

Wow, I should have thought of that , lol. From now on I will look at Kaleesi with only one eye, even though she has settled quite a bit from when she arrived, hopefully she will be more comfortable in future. I know it takes time and understanding. Even if she never wants to step up, I am glad she is at least acting less afraid.
