Yuck ! It may be new but he might think it is better than the toilet for sleeping. Good luck.

Why don't you just buy him one? They are not that expensive.

I agree, Wolf!

Parjarita, it's easier to make one for him because we know what he wants than scour the internet for a similar design that he might not like after all. My mom, dad and I are all efficient with the sewing machine and my Dad is pretty good with putting things together, so this isn't an enormously complex uptaking for us.

It is actually quite normal for the first few prototypes to have design flaws that must be corrected. Once that is done it becomes increasingly easier to replicate the item. Not only does it work out to be cheaper, usually, in the long haul it can also be a satisfying and enjoyable process.

I'm ready for that, Wolf, was just explaining that we weren't starting from complete scratch.

I'm going to start target training Clover today...she has no patience for the expected treat not appearing and can't be won over with pets (doesn't allow them) or praise, so we'll see how this goes. Lemon just watches and learns, bless him.

I just love to hear of people making things for their birds. I never buy in a store unless I have too. When I am making toys for my birds they watch me and are so happy when I am finished and give to them. Givng something you make is so enriching for both parrot and human.

Whenever and to whomever you give something that you make, you are giving of yourself.

That is so true, and also you have the benefit of making exactly what you want and what your parrots would like instead of looking for something that might be okay. It can be very addicting making toys, I have a stockpile, so have been giving them to other parrot people that arent as "crafty"

That's very generous of you! Why don't you donate some to a rescue? They are always in need...

The rescue that is close to me, does not want toys. I belong to a bird toy making group and they have a few rescues they dontate to but they are in the states. I have checked out shipping to there but it is very expensive. I will stockpile some and when i travel to Vancouver or to Alberta, will check out the rescuses there and and I can always ship to them. The bigger toys I make like the playgounds and atoms, could come with me on the trip and I could leave them where they were wanted.
