I don't have any idea as to why he would do this but it does not appear to be a good thing and would likely result in injury to the budgie should it escalate. I would probably not allow him access to the budgie's cage.

Yeah I hate it when a couple birds suddenly dont along and you have to do things to keep them safe. But sometimes it passes and later they get along again. My Red Belly did not like cockatiels much, I think it was mostly becaue she would show them she did not want them in her space and then the cockatiels would be back in her space right away again. Once she hit 5 years old she could not stand cockatiels at all and I had to move them to another room to keep them safe.

While it may not help or be a consolation, I don't always like everyone that I meet either. Our birds are no different than we are in this respect.

Yes, like they DID get along and then suddenly they don't...what's up with that? and maybe after a few months or so they will again.

When she did get along with the cockatiels, she was still a baby and juvenile bird, but when she hit an adult age she got so the cockatiels really bothered her. The budgie would back off and sit on a lower perch on the playground, and the conure also understood it needed to sit lower, The Sengal learned she was donimant too, but the cockatiels would just keep going back no matter how many times she tried to show them, so she just finally decided they could not get the pecking order and she couldnt stand them any more. Any other spats she had with birds have got settled but I would never have another cockatiel around her, I dont think she will ever be able to tolerate them. I am very proud of her right now she is doing very well at excepting my baby Meyers.

I have seen and read of the ages making a difference in that most adult birds don't have much to do with juvenile bids unless they are the parents. I really think the rest has a lot to do with species differences. Greys are extremely picky about which birds they will associate with and it has been suggested that they don't interact or accept birds that are not intelligent enough. Cockatiel are extremely flock oriented and gather in large flocks, larger than most other parrot species and will generally accept any bird into their flock that will accept them.

Yes i agree completely wolf, Although GGC are very flock oriented but are smarter than cockatiels and they understand the body language my Red Belly shows them and so she has learned to get along with every GGC.

Fajr is perched on my knee as I type, falling asleep as I type my paper. He had a fun morning flying around and watching the snow fall (from the window) and talking to it.

He's still picking up words, the newest phrase I've heard is, "Mitthu, pappa do!" which means, sweetie, give me a kiss. My dad says it to him, as Fajr had already picked up the English version from Clover. He'll become a fully bilingual bird yet.

Fingers crossed my plan for getting an internship this upcoming semester goes through! That way, an internship will count as class credit and i'll be able to spend more time at home with the birds throughout the short winter days.

One current inconvenience is while putting winter curtains up, my parents realized where the cold air is leaking into one of our rooms...after about 14 years of living here and closing that room off every winter. And so with all the insulation and tools and drywall crumbs around, I'm still keeping an eye on Fajr and keeping him away from the main floor where he usually flies. Can't wait until it's all over with!

I hear you ! Despite my disabilities which I am still fighting against, I am trying to install some laminate flooring. I hate laminate flooring, I wanted to put in hardwood flooring, oh well, just my issues.

 And I am just starting! I just had the porch done (siding, new door and windows and aluminum capping for all the other exposed surfaces) but I also want the 'inside' done with sheetrock, flooring, new moldings for the windows and a new front door (we got a new 'good' one for the porch with a double lock and everything so now we can get one with glass panels from top to bottom for the actual front door of the house) - as well as new steps (they are wood now and I want material... maybe brick or stone as well as wrought iron railing). I also want all the hardwood floors redone on the second floor, new flooring and windows in the cat room (which will become a guest bedroom for our son and his wife) as well as redecorating my husband's study so I can add a sofa bed (for the grandkids).
