New African Grey Baby!

Postby pchela » Fri Mar 26, 2010 11:56 am

So, next weekend I will be picking up a six week old African Grey Congo! I'm really excited! I feel a bit guilty because I totally believe in rescue and I have rescued and fostered many birds but I selfishly wanted just one baby that I could raise myself. I'm anxiously waiting on the dna results so I can start the naming process.

That came as a sudden surprise. How'd you decide all of a sudden to get one or have you been eying one a while without telling us? Are you going to ween it yourself?

I have been thinking about one for a while but I didn't say anything because I didn't think it was going to happen. But... my two fosters are going home to their original owner (he was suffering some health problems and couldn't take care of them for a while) and he is actually buying this Grey for me as a thank you even though I told him again and again that he did not have to do that. He insisted. I am going to wean him/her myself. I'm very excited!

Awww, adorable! I know what you mean, 'naked' birds really don't look very nice, but babies are always cute!

Picked up the baby yesterday! It's a little boy! Now I have to think of a name. So far I've got Simon from Firefly, Rupert from Buffy or Griffin after the friend who bought him for me. My other two are Pippin and Linus.
