My Red Belly Female Gaugan

Postby seagoatdeb » Mon Nov 30, 2015 10:36 pm

I just had to post a pic of my 17 year old Red Belly female She is so photogenic. My Meyers always looks at my tablet when I am taking a picture and will stop what hes doing so it is hard to get good pics, but my Red Belly is a true ham...lol. I am so proud of her lately, it was hard for her to learn to get along with a baby Meyers, but lately she has decided to accept him and she is doing so well. The only time she has a hard time is when she thinks he is spending too much time with me. She will posture and give him the old evil eye. He doesnt care, but I take the hint and dont push it. :redbelly:

Love it when you have pictures to share, especially with such a pretty girl. Tell me though, the three macramé things hanging down by her head, did you make them or buy them? haw long are they and do you know what material they are made from? Thanks.

AWWWWW, what a BEAUTIFUL little girl!!! Most people don't think of them as very pretty because they lack the orange/red belly of the males but I think they are just as gorgeous in their subtler beauty.

We are so close that I can always tell how she feels. Through her I learned how much these sweet beings can feel.

I make the vast majority of her toys and she just loves to watch me make them. The ones hanging down are all made from pure cotton dog hoops I buy at the dollar store. I use zip ties to join them into atoms, orbiters and orbits. The dining room is three hanging toys, and the living room is 5 Hanging toys. The playground she is hanging from is a pine frame with lilac branches from my yard.

One of the forums I am in has two different Parrot owners with many Red Bellys with light eye rings. I think it may be a sub species. Their feet are lighter too, almost pink. Their bellies have very little orange on them, compared to Gaugan.

If they are exposed to a lot of natural sunlight the ARB will develop the eye rings, especially the males. This does not indicate a sub species. :redbelly:

It has nothing to do with sunlight or age in this case. They have redbellys as old as 19 with the lighter eye rings and they have been exposed to sunlight often just like my darker eye ring Redbelly has. I have never heard of the eye ring area being called a mask, but I am speaking about the area surrounding the eye. Here is a link where they have a bit to say about the lighter eye ring Red Bellys.
