Pajarita wrote:Yes, they are hormonal right now. Thankfully, my redbelly, Isis, is also a very good girl which never bites but she has been a bit of pest asking for head scratches - not that I resent it, mind you! but it's a constant thing and I need both my hands to do my chores so I guess that, sometimes, I disappoint her :( I have been looking for a male redbelly for her since I got her but no luck so far...

It helps Gaugan right now that she can preen Sunny. But she is almost 18 so she is pretty established that I am her favorite. I have to watch her closely right now she was perching on my shoulder while I typed and it felt like she was tickling my shoulder, but now that i looked at my shoulder she was removing the outer epidermis of my skin...I think I will attach some more pine slabs, to give her more to chew and add some papers and carboards, in her foraging toys, tht usually satisfys that urge. She does have a new wicker basket and a seagrass woven forging toy and she is happy to spend a lot of time on them right now too.

Just an update on Gaugan, and I am so pleased to see her so happy. She gets so focused on me when she is the only parrot in the house and will be mean to other humans to drive them away. She is now being nice to all humans and forming new relationships with people. She limits what what they are allowed to do and makes very clear expressions and body movements to let people know what she wants. She has formed a good realtionship with Sunny the Meyers, and she is preening him and allowing him to flock with her at times. When Sunny wants more attention from her than she wants to give she will chase him off a few places so he backs off some. Sunny gets it and they hang together very well, and fight very seldom, and in a non dangerous way, and only when Sunny is trying to stay where he is and Gaugan wants him to leave. In fact, if a person will get bit by a parrot in this house it will more likely be Sunny. Its just so nice to see Gaugan this happy.

Yes, it's great when things are going smoothly. In my house, this hardly ever happens because of the number of animals -it's simple math, the more you have, the more chances that one of them is going to be 'acting up' :D

Right now, it's the new dog. She is a barker - BIG TIME! But she now shuts up when I tell her to - AND I have lieutenant Sweetpea to make sure she follows orders when I am not around - I was taking a shower this morning after washing floors and, when she started barking (she doesn't like to be without humans), my husband heard him telling her: "SHUT UP!" twice

That is so fuuny.....lol....you are sure right about it being the number of animals, I am not going to get a rescue parrot for a while because it is just so nice to have the harmony right now.
