I would suggest that they be quarantined, while I am thinking that Lucy is probably fine, I am some what concerned about the new birds health after looking at the pictures. I would schedule a vet visit for the new bird.

He was plucked bare by his parents, after they laid some eggs due to off-season hormones. All the babies were abandoned, and he was the last survivor when the previous owner found him. The feathers haven't grown back all the way, which makes up the majority of the reason why he looks like that. Other than that, he acts perfectly healthy. He just began the process of weaning, so he's being a bit of a whiner right now.

But I will get a vet check for both of them as soon as I can. Possibly after Lucy settles a little.

I would not wean him so soon, Jessy. This is a baby that went hungry and was pecked by his parents so his early infancy was a real bad experience and, normally, this arrests emotional and physical development. If I were you, I would handfeed him three times a day while offering him two kinds of soft food served warm and fresh twice a day and spend hours and hours cuddling him if, for nothing else, to make him feel safe and loved and make up for the early lack... kind of making the 'field' level, if you know what I mean.

Ah, gotcha. The baby's definitely a cuddle-bug it seems. He likes to be on me, rather than just near me, and tries to hide in my hair. we're not trying to rush the weaning process. He already eats just about everything. He's getting just about as much loving as Lucy is, and right now, it's a LOT.

lol...Mine like food more than human babies, My kids never carried on like my parrots everytime I have anything to eat....lol

Out of all my birds, the new baby has been the easiest to work with, when it comes to food. I have a flock of picky eaters, and he just tries whatever I put in front of him. Could be an age thing, considering he's younger.

Yes, it is indeed an 'age thing'. It's because this is the window of time in their development when they learn what to eat from their parents.

Yes the babbies tend to be better eaters, but sometimes a good thing comes out of it and the picky birds try something because they see the baby eating it.
