It takes time to build a relationship, whether you are a human or a bird.

As I said Wolf, it is early days. I'm very happy with how things are at the moment and watching carefully to see how things develop.

Well, he is just been careful, that's all. After all, he has never lived with a GCC hen before so although I am sure he knows what she is, he's still very insecure about the whole thing. But, in my personal experience, they are super easy to get to bond... not as easy as a budgie, a tiel or a lovie, but super easy compared to other parrot species. And, besides, even if they don't mate bond, just living with another bird of the same species is a HUGE enrichment to their lives.

We've had a lovely couple of days where they have basically completely ignored each other. We have been practising some "targets" so they are near each other but not too near and everything's been completely fine. Rena has mainly been sat with my boyfriend and Ollie has been with me several feet away or doing his own thing around the room as he normally does.

Yesterday Rena has felt comfortable enough to start exploring too. Ollie has now decided to pick on her, he has attacked her a couple of times :(

We have gone back to separate "out" times but whichever bird is "in" is screaming the place down, literally it sounds like they are being killed.

When you are providing separate out of cage times for them, are they able to see each other? If not then try moving things around so that they can still see each other whenever one of them is out and see if that helps.

And put their cages side-by-side but not so near each other that they can put their beak through the bars and hurt each other. That's what I do to get a bird used to another...

They are side by side, there is about a foot between the cages. and they can both see the whole room from their cages. :(

OK, my next question is based on not knowing what type of training you are doing, but when you are doing this are you sure that they can see each other and not just hear the other? The other thing that may be affecting this is the distance from each other so maybe if the training area were next to or some how closer to the cages.

I don't know your set up, so this is a lot like shooting in the dark, but will keep trying to help as long as you don't mind.

I think I just misjudged how comfortable they are around each other and took things a little too fast.
They can definitely see each other, I really think they are just taking exception to being shut in, perhaps in Ollies case a spot of jealousy.

I could try training right next to to the cages, close the distance a bit but it's not all I do if you know what I mean, it's literally a few minutes 5, 10 at the very most. I haven't don't any training with them separately whilst they have been in the same room.

OK, I don't have any other suggestion at the moment that might help to reduce the screaming, as I said it is like shooting in the dark and I am just looking at all of the various reasons that I know of that parrots scream a bit excessively and hoping to hit upon an answer that might help. Not always the best way to go.
