I wouldn't worry too much, Marie. Just give it time and keep on doing what you are doing. Sometimes it takes a long time for a bird to accept another one. I've never had that problem with the little ones but Zoey is still not completely accepting Sweetpea. The funny thing is that, usually, is the females that don't accept the males and not the other way around...

Hahaa oh dear.

Ollie was sat with me and Rena with my boyfriend.

I told Ollie to "go to bed" a few times because I wanted to nip out the room (he understands that as go to cage)....He just sat there staring at me.

So I then tried sending him to their play tree instead- "go to perch" I say, really encouraging him but still he sits there and stares at me...

.....So I give up and just say "ok fine, how about making friends with Rena instead- go give her a kiss"....

...Ollie runs in the other direction!!!! Lmao. At least I got my toilet break.

Since there have been no problems between Ollie & Rena in the spare room and they both have learned how to tell when I'm standing outside so can no longer spy on them, I've been leaving them unattended for short periods (I'm always in so I can run in and intervene if I hear anything).

So Wed I went in to bring them in to the living again. Ollie came straight over which is what Rena usually does. I could hear her in her usual spot but I could not see her. Her usual spot is sat on top of a covered cage by the door. A bit confused I looked under the cage, no Rena. I looked in the tray under the cage, no Rena.

When I finally found her it turned out she had climbed under the cover and up the back of the cage where I couldn't reach.

Yesterday she had done exactly the same thing.

Little madam! Today she's managed to climb up on door as I opened it. Not sure how without flying up there. Managed to get me looking for her again though!

This will be the last update I think as I don't think anyone is following (just in case).

Actually I am reading every entry that you make on this. I don't always have anything to say, imagine that, but I am reading every word of it.

Ops clearly I was wrong about nobody reading lol.

No there have been no changes whatsoever. Nothing that gives me a glimmer of hope that they will one day get on. I do think Rena is a bit interested but is staying away because of what Ollie is telling her. The issue is all Ollie, he wants nothing to do with her unless it's to tell her off for something.

I just know that it was mentioned at some point but I just skimmed through this thread and couldn't find anything about their relative ages, I was just looking to be sure that this was not or should not be a contributing factor to why Ollie is acting so indifferent toward her. Maybe his brain needs to grow up a little bit to catch up to his body. He sounds a lot like some of those young boys, just before they develop an actual interest in girls. Or perhaps, I am wrong and he already has a crush on her and just doesn't know what to do with it. Breeding season is coming up before too much longer and if it does like everything else seems to be doing it will probably arrive early and then he will figure it all out, I'll bet.

Ollie is 6 and Rena is 2. Rena is already slightly hormonal but she wasn't on a solar schedule in past home. We will see!
